Have you found that most "moms groups"

are really focused

on the baby's needs, not your own needs?

Do you feel like you’ve lost parts of yourself

since becoming mother...

and you want those pieces back?

Are you tired of everyone

asking about the baby

and making you feel like you don't exist?

We can help!!!

M.O.M.S. (short for Mom-on-Mom-Support) is an honest, inspiring and helpful 8-week group program designed to create community and provide much-needed support for moms. Each week, the group will “meet” by phone to discuss a different topic.

Through guided discussions, personal coaching and information sharing, you will learn strategies to help you cope, wherever you are in your motherhood journey.

We know that you're doing quite well on your own!  But, let's face it, motherhood is darn tough.  And we believe that even Supermoms need support from other moms.

WILL YOU BENEFIT FROM THIS GROUP?

We have designed every single aspect of this group program with busy, stressed-out moms in mind! This group is perfect for very busy moms who want support that is easy and accessible (you can participate in our group from your couch... in your pj’s!)

M.O.M.S. will be most helpful for moms with children under the age of three (and yes, it  will be helpful for first time moms and veteran moms alike).  If you are an expecting mom, please let us know if you are interested in this program – new groups will be launching soon!

M.O.M.S. will provide an opportunity to speak openly about all the things that come up once you become a mom (you know… what you didn’t expect when you were expecting).

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM the M.O.M.S. Group?

- 8 interactive, fun & informative 75-minute calls focused on the needs of mothers (see our topic list below)

- Concrete food and lifestyle recommendations following each call to make your life easier and healthier

- Written materials, resources and recipes supporting the focus of each call (including exercise recommendations, recipes, tips, resources, food samples, etc.)

- Online support group available 24/7 so you can receive additional email support in between calls from all group participants and moderators

- Opportunity to be part of a community of like-minded moms (you'll be so glad to know that other moms feel the same way you do!)

- One-on-one support - each participant will receive a 30-minute individual health consultation (by phone) before the group program begins.

* Bonus: All calls will be recorded in .mp3 format. If you can’t make a call because of an emergency, you can listen to the recording at your convenience. The recordings will also allow you the opportunity to listen again and again.

The group will be kept small so each participant receives an enormous amount of individual attention.  If more than 12 new moms are interested at this time, we will take a waitlist for our January group.

We are committed to creating a safe place where you can open up and share questions, concerns, and feel supported and loved... without judgment.

A SAMPLING OF THE CALL TOPICS:

1) NUTRITION INFO ALL MOMS NEED: Every call will address moms' nutritional needs including: losing baby weight, increasing iron stores, using food to boost your mood and energy.

2) HOW TO CARE FOR YOURSELF NOW THAT YOU’RE A MOM. Self care, exercise, creating free-time, and finding balance.

3) CULTIVATING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. Fun ways to connect with your baby, reconnecting with your spouse/partner, and how to keep friends in your life.  We’ll also address the burning issue of Post-baby Sex (does it even exist?).

4) "THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED." The un-spoken emotions of motherhood. Because in addition to bliss, there are often feelings of loss, guilt, depression, fear, change, resentment.

5) CREATING AN EFFECTIVE SYSTEM TO ADDRESS THE DEMANDS OF MOTHERHOOD. Checklists to organize your day and home. Tips for being more productive with less time. Concrete ways to manage your time more effectively. Learning to ask for help.

WHO ARE THE M.O.M.S. LEADERS?

Amara Wagner (www.amarawellness.com):

Giving birth to my son Sam was the most empowering, liberating and exciting experience of my life. I was blessed with a birth experience that was exactly what I had hoped it to be. I had an incredibly supportive group of people to help me through the process including my midwife, husband, and doula/sister. Because I was encouraged to trust the process I came away from my childbirth experience with a tremendous respect for my body and an incredible sense of strength. Although the early days of motherhood were still very difficult and emotional I believe that my birth experience helped me through the initial emotional roller coaster that is motherhood. I realize that my experience is rare nowadays but I would like to do everything I can to help women have a positive birth experience and also help ease them through the transitions of motherhood.

Christi Collins (www.bostonhealthcoach.com):

The birth of my son was the complete opposite of what I’d hoped it would be. Although I'd educated myself and planned for a homebirth, the final experience turned out to be traumatic, violating, and disempowering... and as a result, I suffered from intense Postpartum Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for more than a year after Evan’s birth.  While I had a few support people who served as my lifelines, I was shocked to discover that most people (even close friends and family) didn’t know how to support me during this time.  Most people told me I should be grateful to have a healthy baby, and they didn’t want to hear about the intense physical and emotional pain that I was experiencing. I found it extremely difficult to ask for help, and I felt compelled to pretend like I was ‘fine’ and life was ‘normal.’  It took me more than a year of hard work, determination, nutritional support, and lots of “talking it out” to get myself back... and I never want another new mom to feel like she has to struggle through those early months of motherhood alone. I believe we ALL need support, no matter what our birth stories are.

Pamela Rich (www.bestyoucanbenow.com):

As a single Mom to my daughter, Jillian, I am a firm believer that it takes a village to not only raise a child, but to raise a Mom!  My mothering journey has shown me the value of support from others and how important it is to focus on being the best me possible so I can be there - emotionally and physically - for my child.  I see the impact that the subtle messages of how I treated myself have translated into how my now 18 year old daughter views herself and the importance of nutrition, self-care, time management and living a well-rounded life.  We truly do teach by example.  I am honored to be sharing what I’ve learned with you and to guide and support you through this magical gift of Motherhood.
